Richard Moore holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto where he studied under Dr. Russell Hartenberger and Robin Engelman of NEXUS. Mr. Moore also studied timpani, percussion and historic percussion (baroque timpani) under Dr Peter Sadlo at the Hochschule fur Musik in Munich, Germany. His studies in Germany also included the hackbrettcimbalom under the direction of Birgit Stolzenburg at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium. Mr. Moore has performed with many orchestras and ensembles, including most recently with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Esprit Orchestra, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Hamilton Philharmonic, Symphony Canada, and the National Ballet of Canada. He has also participated in music festivals such as, Centre Acanthes, Avignon Festival, France, A. Devantgarde Festival fur Neuer Musik, Germany and many others.His recording credits include, Bavarian state Radio (Bayerischer Rundfunk 111), Swiss Broadcasting Union, and the APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television). Mr. Moore also performed as percussionist and cymbalist under composer/conductor Pierre Boulez in 2002. Mr. Moore is a founding member of Ergoprojects/Ergo Ensemble, an internationally based organization for the promotion of contemporary music in Canada and abroad.
